The Iberian Historic Endurance moves forward: first stop, Portimão.

The 2025 season of the Iberian Historic Endurance will begin a month earlier than planned, with the first two races of the year taking place at the Algarve Iberian Racing Festival on the 5th and 6th of April.

The Historic Endurance organisers were forced to cancel the event originally scheduled for the last weekend of May at the Circuito de Monteblanco. Despite preparations being underway, technical difficulties have arisen in recent months, making it impossible to hold the event to the high standards of quality that teams and drivers of the most prestigious classic car competition are accustomed to in Race Ready-organised events.

Given the complexity of the calendar and the difficulty of finding a suitable alternative in May, the natural solution was to start the season at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve on the 5th and 6th of April. Known as Portimão’s "rollercoaster," the Algarve circuit, which holds FIA Grade 1 status, is widely recognised worldwide, standing out not only for its challenging layout but also for its first-class facility.

The first round of the season for the Iberian Touring Cars and Grand Touring competition up to 1976 will follow a dynamic format, featuring a qualifying session on Saturday and two thrilling 50-minute races on Sunday. Both races will be live-streamed on Race Ready’s social media channels, allowing fans to follow all the action in real-time.

Diogo Ferrão, CEO of Race Ready, explained: "We always strive to maintain calendar stability, but this time, to ensure the quality of the event, we were forced to postpone the visit to the Circuito de Monteblanco for a future opportunity. On the other hand, we appreciate the full support and collaboration of the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, which quickly made this change possible, allowing the opening round of the Historic Endurance to take place. We hope this adjustment does not affect the plans of teams and drivers, and we look forward with great anticipation to welcoming everyone to the first race of the season, now part of the Algarve Iberian Racing Festival."

In addition to the Historic Endurance, the first edition of the Algarve Iberian Racing Festival will feature the opening rounds of the three Supercars Endurance series: Iberian Supercars, Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade, and Supercars España. The event will also include the Single Seater Series, the only single-seater competition in Portugal, and Group 1 Portugal, always accompanied by the Troféu Mini one-make cup.
