The Estoril Circuit will be the stage for another major motorsport event on the Iberian Peninsula. On the weekend of July 13th and 14th, organized by Race Ready, the Estoril Summer Party will bring together GT and Touring cars from the biggest Iberian speed competition, the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade / Iberian Supercars, at the iconic Cascais circuit. The program will be filled with various races of classics and single-seaters, featuring more than 150 racing cars.
The Iberian GT4 and TCR competition, which includes cars from ten different brands - Audi, Aston Martin, BMW, Ginetta, Hyundai, Ligier, Mercedes, McLaren, Porsche, and Toyota - is more competitive than ever, as seen in the first race of the season at the Jerez Circuit, where the top three finished within less than two seconds of each other.
Those who head to the Estoril Circuit will find some well-known names in Portuguese motorsport behind the wheel, such as Bernardo Sousa, Carlos Vieira, and Manuel Gião, as well as former national champions like Daniel Teixeira, Francisco Carvalho, Gonçalo Araújo, Francisco Mora, José Carlos Pires, Jorge Rodrigues, Nuno Batista, and Patrick Cunha. However, the starting grid, which features drivers from twelve different nationalities, also includes well-known Spanish drivers like Nerea Martí, Jose de los Milagros, and Nil Montserrat.
Also present at “our Circuit” will be the Copa Racer. The Spanish competition will feature its traditional MINI Coopers along with the BMW M2 CS Cup from the new Racer GT category, providing a lineup that always delivers exciting and unpredictable races for the spectators.
Since Portuguese racing fans are great enthusiasts of classic car races, and to whet the appetite for the much-anticipated return of the Estoril Classics from October 6th to 8th, Race Ready has decided to organize the SevenFriday Classic Cup for all cars homologated or produced between 1950 and 1999. SevenFriday, the brand of unique watches inspired by the modern world and represented in Portugal by Importempo, will be the official sponsor of the race, offering an exclusive SevenFriday watch to the winner.
With a duration of 60 minutes, a set of specific rules for this race will ensure that all drivers and machines can compete fairly, considering various factors. The provisional entry list already includes notable cars from the competitive automotive industry, such as a Jaguar XK 140, a Lotus 23B, a Ferrari 308 GTB, a BMW M3 (Group A), and several Porsche 911 RS and Datsun 1200s.
Those who enjoy classic car races can also relish the always exciting races of Group 1 Portugal. This lineup, which exceeds three dozen competitors, including participants in the one-make Troféu Mini, features a diverse array of vehicles, some of which made a significant impact on national racing in the 1970s and 1980s.
Completing the program will be two races from the Single Seater Series, the only single-seater competition in Portugal. With its characteristic diversity of formulas, those attending the Autodrome will see on track single-seaters that over the past four decades have served as a springboard for most of today’s professional drivers. From wingless Formula Fords to the more modern Formula 4 and Formula Renault 2.0 cars, already equipped with aerodynamic appendages, there is a bit of everything in this moving museum that reminds us of the training ground for many of today’s Formula 1 drivers.
The paddock will be ready to welcome all those who come to Portugal's oldest permanent circuit. NAPA, the sponsor of the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade / Iberian Supercars event, will have numerous activities in the paddock, including simulators and more, allowing fans to virtually mimic what the drivers do on the track. MINI will also have various activities for its guests. As usual, there will be a food court where fans and their families can recharge and socialize.
Access to Grandstand A is free, allowing anyone who wishes to watch the races live to do so at no cost. For those interested in meeting the drivers and participating in paddock activities, gaining access to the exclusive paddock area will cost only 20 euros for a general pass for Saturday and Sunday. For those who want to visit the backstage area on a single day, the cost will be 15 euros.
Both daily and two-day passes can be purchased on the BOL.pt website, or physically at any FNAC or Worten sales counter across the country until July 12th. On July 13th and 14th, paddock tickets will only be available for purchase at the circuit's ticket office.
On Sunday, all races will be broadcast live on Race Ready’s Facebook and YouTube social media channels. The two 45-minute races of the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade / Iberian Supercars will be broadcast in Portugal on A Bola TV and in Spain on DAZN.
