Formula 1 cars until 1986 to return to Portugal
Six decades of Le Mans 24 Hours history at Estoril
Paddock is once again the "heart of the event”
The Estoril Classics, one of the biggest historic racing events in the world, is already scheduled for October 7 to 9 at Autódromo do Estoril, featuring Formula 1 cars and races with numerous generations of the cars that made history in Le Mans.
Estoril Classics has been making an indelible mark on the national and international motorsport calendar since 2017, but its importance beyond borders is growing and now, in its sixth edition, is a world landmark for all classics event enthusiasts - whether fans, drivers or teams.
Since its initial running, Race Ready has brought to Portugal the Formula 1 single seaters that have defined the history of the top division of motorsport. This year's edition continues that tradition. It is organized by Race Ready in collaboration with Peter Auto, ACP, and with the support of Turismo de Cascais.
Several dream cars will line up on the starting grid of the Classic GP, allowing a trip back to the years when the mythical Portuguese circuit was part of the Formula 1 World Championship calendar.
To complement the headliner, the machines that helped write the history of the 24 Hours of Le Mans will also be racing at Estoril Classics, with various races, each one recalling different decades of the most important endurance race in world motoring. From the incredible Group C sport-prototypes era, which this year celebrate four decades of their creation, to the GTs and prototypes that preceded them and those that later shaped the renaissance of endurance racing between 1994 and 2010.
There will also be several other Peter Auto organisation competitions on the track covering different eras and categories of motorsport to the delight of enthusiasts who will be able to see some of the machines of their dreams, from touring cars to prototypes from the 1950s to the beginning of this century, as well as the Iberian Historic Endurance, the most prestigious classic car competition on the Iberian Peninsula. In total, there will be 11 competitions on the track and 15 races that are not to be missed.
"It is with great pleasure that we will host the sixth edition of Estoril Classics this year, an event that has already established itself on the world map of classic car events. The programme gathers a panoply of excellence races and we are counting again with the visit of more than three hundred 'gentleman drivers' who will come to the Autódromo do Estoril for the races, but also to enjoy a reference tourist destination in Europe. The nature of proximity between the public and the participants makes this a perfect weekend of leisure for the whole family," says the event's mentor Duarte Nobre Guedes.
Estoril Classics is more than just a set of car races, with the Paddock being a central place in the event for all those who come to the oldest permanent stage of motor racing in Portugal.
As in the last two years, most of the "motor jewels" on the national circuit will not be hidden in the pit garages, but will be displayed in tents, where fans will be able to see them up close and even exchange some ideas with the teams that prepare these four-wheeled rarities. Another Estoril Classics tradition is the ACP Clássicos exhibition, which gives us the opportunity to see some unique cars based in Portugal.
One of the Estoril Classic brands is its VIP area which includes boxes for companies and sponsors, but also the "Food & Brand Village", a social area inside the Paddock, where all fans can socialize with other friends and also know the several merchandising shops that will delight the whole family.
These are more than enough reasons to pay a visit to the historic Estoril Race Track between 7 and 9 October, with the organisation expecting more spectators than in previous editions, which in 2019 exceeded thirty thousand people. Tickets will soon be on sale at the usual points.
